Anji is not currently practicing (April 2011 to March 2012 )

Anji is taking a year out from practicing to concentrate on family needs and to wait for the recently approved Statutory Regulation of Medical Herbalists to come into effect. Although she remains registered with the CPP, this is as a non-practicing member and she is uninsured to practice.

Hopefully, at the end of this year, and once Statutory Regulation is in effect, Anji will take on patients again.

In the meantime, she apologises for any inconvenience.

Anji now appears in the NHS Directory for Complementary and Alternative Practioners

Black Cohosh (Cimicifuga racemosa)
has been in the press, where it was reported to have caused some incidences of liver disease. The CPP requires its members to inform patients that Cimicifuga racemosa has, in RARE cases, been SUSPECTED of causing liver disease. The view of the CPP is that the evidence base for the association between this herb and liver disease is very weak, and this herb has been used for many years by practitioners around the world, testifying to its good safety record. Like me, the CPP is extremely sceptical of the quality of black cohosh products that are available over the counter and there is uncertainty as to whether some of these actually contain black cohosh at all. CPP members only prescribe herbs from specialist suppliers where we can be sure of the authenticity and quality of the herbs used. The suspected cases of liver disease have not involved medicines from our suppliers.
